Powered by a 4-for-4 night out of shortstop Jimmy Losh (Millsersville), the Martinsville Mustangs run-ruled the Catawba Valley Stars 19-3 in seven innings on Monday night at Hooker Field.

The Mustangs (5-3, 1-3) opened the scoring early when Losh homered over the wall in left to begin the home half of the first. Martinsville later loaded the bases and made it 2-0 after outfielder Will Knight (VMI) drew a walk.

Right-hander Kevin Kopps (Arkansas) made his first start of the regular season on the mound, allowing only three runs on three hits and striking out an impressive eight hitters in three innings of work.

Leading 2-0 in the second, the Mustangs used an RBI single from Brady Slavens (Arkansas), a Stars throwing error and a bases clearing, three-run double by Jack Elliott (Mercyhurst) to add five more and push the lead to 7-0.

Righty Will Davis (Ferrum) entered the game for the Mustangs in the fourth and was eventually credited with the win. Davis did not allow a hit in three innings and struck out six.

In the fourth, the Mustangs really distanced themselves when Losh, outfielder Christian Easley (UMBC) and catcher Bo Rusher (Gardner-Webb) all notched bases loaded RBI singles to help put up a seven-spot and extend the lead to 18-3. Every Mustangs hitter had at least one hit in the exhibition contest.

Left-hander Corey Spain (Arkansas) tossed the seventh inning for the Mustangs and retired the Stars in order to end it.

Martinsville returns to Hooker Field on Tuesday night for another non-conference matchup with the Wake Forest Fungo. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m.
