Fueled by two first innings runs and six solid innings out of right-hander Logan Campbell (Charleston), the Martinsville Mustangs hung on for a 2-1 divisional victory over the High Point-Thomasville HiToms on Saturday night at Hooker Field.

Campbell, making his fourth start of the regular season, allowed only one run on five hits and struck out eight in six innings of work.

The Mustangs (11-6-1, 4-6 CPL) scored both of their runs in the first on a Matt Goodheart (Arkansas) solo home run over the wall in left-center and an RBI single by Logan Fink (Kennesaw St).

After the HiToms (13-5, 4-5 CPL) scratched one across in the sixth to get on the board, left-hander Reid VanScoter (Coastal Carolina) entered for Martinsville.

VanScoter worked three scoreless inning, allowing only three hits and fanning four to secure his first save of the season.

Martinsville will hit the road on Sunday to face the HiToms for a second straight game on Sunday. First pitch from Finch Field is scheduled for 5 p.m.
