Powered by a two-run homer off the bat of Logan Fink (Kennesaw St) and a grand slam from Christian Easley (UMBC), the Martinsville Mustangs run-ruled the Bull City Crash 14-1 in seven innings on Monday night at Hooker Field.

Playing the first of back-to-back exhibition contests, the Mustangs (2-2, 1-2) used a solid outing by right-hander Kyle Ruehlman (Gardner-Webb) to set the tone early. Ruehlman allowed only one run on four hits and struck out four in five innings of work.

Martinsville took advantage of seven Bull City errors and built a 7-0 lead in the second inning. In the fourth, catcher Matt Stone (Georgetown) was hit by a pitch with two outs and Fink delivered the two-run home run to left to make it a 9-0 game.

Leading 10-1 in the sixth, the Mustangs loaded the bases with one out before Easley launched a grand slam over the fence in left to make it 14-1.

Righty Kevin Kopps (Arkankas) struck out the first four batters he faced and finished the final two innings on the mound, allowing no runs or hits.

Martinsville will host the Deep River Muddogs on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at Hooker Field for another non-conference matchup.
