MARTINSVILLE, Va – The Martinsville Mustangs, in conjunction with NEXT P.L.A.N. Athletics, have announced Brandon Nania will return as head coach for the 2024 season.

Nania, a Murrysville, Pennsylvania native, currently serves as the head baseball coach at nearby Patrick & Henry Community College. Nania has been involved with the Mustangs organization since the 2020 season, serving as an assistant coach before taking the reins as head coach for the 2021 and 2022 campaigns.

“I’m absolutely thrilled to return for another season as manager of the Mustangs,” Nania said. “I can’t thank Mr. (Jason) Davis and everyone within the Next P.L.A.N. Athletics management firm for this opportunity. This organization and community have become my second family, and I’m elated to continue to build on the positive momentum and bring winning baseball back to Martinsville.”

Under Nania’s leadership in 2022, the Mustangs secured 25 victories – the most in seven years. Martinsville also sent an impressive four representatives to the annual Coastal Plain League All-Star event.

A P&HCC alumnus, Nania compiled a historic career with the Patriots. A two-time All-Region selection and member of the All-Defensive team, Nania set the PHCC single season record for RBI’s (60), career RBI’s (117), career doubles (42), and career home runs (16) before graduating from Winston-Salem State University.

“We are very fortunate to have coach Nania back at the helm in 2024,” team president Jason Davis said. “He is a great baseball coach and has the ability and drive to take Mustang baseball to new heights. His vision parallels ours, and the combination of those qualities is going to be great for the Mustangs community.”
