Martinsville Mustangs Release 2020 Schedule

Martinsville, VA – The Martinsville Mustangs will begin their 2020 campaign on Sunday, May 24 at Historic Hooker Field against the HPT Locos. The Memorial Day weekend of baseball continues when the Catawba Valley Stars visit for the first of two consecutive contests with the Mustangs; Monday, May 25 and Wednesday, May 27.

Celebrating 16 seasons in the Coastal Plain League in 2020, the Mustangs will open CPL play at home Thursday, May 28 against new division rival, the High Point-Thomasville HiToms.

“With the expansion of the Mustangs home slate by six games, Hooker Field will surely emerge as the area’s ‘go-to’ spot for fun and entertainment,” new Mustangs president Greg Suire said. “The energy is already building and with a new team, brand and uniforms awaiting, southwest Virginia should be poised for a memorable summer.”

Returning to a two division structure in 2020, the CPL will feature seven teams in the East and eight in the West. Joining the Mustangs in the West will be the Asheboro Copperheads, Forest City Owls, Gastonia Grizzlies, HPT HiToms, Lexington County Blowfish, Macon Bacon and Savannah Bananas.

Following the league opener and a two-game road trip to face Forest City and Gastonia, the Mustangs will return home for their first-ever meeting with the CPL’s newest franchise, the Tri City Chili Peppers on Monday, June 1.

In addition to Martinsville’s 26-game home slate in the CPL, fans will be able to enjoy even more action at Hooker Field when the Mustangs host the the Deep River Muddogs on May 31, the HPT Locos again on June 4 and the Randolph Lumber Kings on June 25.
